Returns & Refunds

You have two separate rights when you buy rims online in South Africa. They cover different things, and one does not replace the other.

Last updated 11 August 2026

Rims must be unfitted to be returned. Once a rim has been mounted to a tyre or fitted to a vehicle it cannot be resold as new, and we cannot accept it back except where it is defective. Please check fitment before anything goes near a tyre machine.

1. Changing your mind — 7 days

Because you bought online without seeing the goods, section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives you 7 days from the day you receive your order to cancel it, for any reason or none. You do not have to explain why.

To cancel, email us at info@rimz.co.za with your order number within those 7 days.

The conditions:

  • The rims must be unused, unfitted and in their original packaging.
  • You pay the cost of returning them to us. This is what the Act allows, and rims are heavy — please budget for it before you cancel.
  • We refund the full purchase price, including the original delivery fee, within 30 days of the goods reaching us.
  • If rims come back fitted, scratched, kerbed or without packaging, we will tell you what we can do before we do anything.

2. Something is wrong with the rims — 6 months

Separately, section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act gives you 6 months from delivery to return goods that are defective, unsafe, or not of the quality you were entitled to expect. This applies whether or not the 7 days have passed.

Within those 6 months you choose whether you want a repair, a replacement, or a refund. That choice is yours, not ours, and we do not get to insist on a repair.

We pay the cost of collecting defective goods. You are not charged for returning something that should not have been faulty.

A rim damaged by potholes, kerbing, incorrect fitment, over-torqued nuts or corrosive wheel cleaners is not defective, and this does not cover it. If we disagree about the cause we will say so plainly and explain why.

3. Fitment

We publish full specifications — diameter, width, bolt pattern, offset and centre bore — on every rim, and our fitment guide explains what they mean. Checking those against your vehicle before you order is the single best thing you can do to avoid a return.

If you are unsure, ask us before you buy rather than after. We would much rather spend five minutes on an email than have you pay to ship four rims back.

4. How a refund reaches you

Refunds go back to the card or account you paid from. We cannot refund to a different account — that restriction is your bank’s and the payment gateway’s, not ours, and it exists to make card fraud harder.

Once we process a refund, how quickly it appears is up to your bank. Card refunds in South Africa commonly take 3 to 10 working days.

5. Sets of four

Rims are sold in sets of 4 and returned in sets of 4. We cannot take back part of a set, because three rims are not a product anyone can buy.

6. If you are not satisfied

Tell us first — most problems are quicker to solve directly. If we cannot resolve it, you may refer the matter to the National Consumer Commission or the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, which is free to consumers.
